You reach the same dot through each connected contact method. Changing channels doesn’t reset its memory. Slack and Teams conversations show the messages exchanged there; they don’t mirror every message from other channels. Your dot can use relevant context across those conversations. Before sharing information from a private conversation with other people, it checks that you’ve allowed it. See Context and memory.
Open your dot’s profile and select Add to see and connect the contact methods available to you. Connect apps and your computer separately to make them available for your dot’s work.
ChatGPT and voice
Message or call your dot in ChatGPT on desktop web or in the desktop app. Create your dot there first, then use it in the mobile app when the supporting update is available. Mobile web is not supported.
To call your dot, open its conversation and select the phone button. In the desktop app, you can also select Call in its profile. Talk through a request, clarify a decision, or ask for a progress update. You can type messages while you’re talking, and your dot can also message you with progress or a question. Ending a call ends the voice conversation; work you’ve assigned can continue. Calls initiated by your dot are planned for after launch.
Slack and Teams
You can message your dot in Slack and Microsoft Teams. Connect the contact method in your dot’s profile. In Slack, you can send a direct message or add your dot to a channel and mention it in a thread.
By default, your dot responds to you in Slack. You can instruct it to engage with others. Existing permissions and safeguards still apply to what it shares and does. Your dot can message you privately to ask what you’re comfortable sharing before it replies in a channel.
Tell your dot where you want different updates. For example, keep routine progress in ChatGPT and ask it to bring decisions to you in Slack.
For monitoring, specify which channels to check, what to watch for, and when to notify you. Ask your dot to confirm the recurring task. Adding it to a channel doesn’t establish a monitoring schedule.
