Description

Scent Cartography is a floral fragrance experience built with Codex and GPT-5.6. It combines six fictional perfumes with a botanical configurator that maps top, heart, and base notes into a custom scent.

Build notes

Initial prompt

Build “Scent Cartography,” a premium but approachable fragrance storefront. Include a strong editorial hero, a catalog of six fictional fragrances, product details, a local cart drawer, and a simple build-your-own-scent experience. Use a dark botanical palette, luminous particles, fine typography, and macro ingredient imagery. Generate coherent original product imagery if image generation is available.

The signature interaction is a constellation of fragrance notes. Let users choose one top, heart, and base note; each selection should alter the constellation, particle plume, color atmosphere, and bottle label in real time. The resulting scent can be added to the cart alongside the standard products. Keep the interaction legible and avoid turning it into a complicated chemistry simulator.

No backend or real checkout is required, but browsing, configuration, cart quantities, and removal must work. Make it responsive, respect reduced motion, run build and lint, and verify the complete shopping flow in the browser with no console errors.

Iterations

  1. Built the six-fragrance catalog, product details, persistent cart, and live top-heart-base configurator with changing atmosphere, particles, geometry, copy, and bottle labels.

  2. Reworked the dark, space-like direction into an ivory and sage luxury system with warm floral photography, limestone textures, botanical imagery, and corrected petal placement.

  3. Connected leaves to the stem with visible petioles and veins, repositioned foliage around the petals, and replaced the radial root with a more natural botanical structure.

  4. Joined every leaf structurally to its bloom, removed the root artwork and the redundant return link, and rebalanced the final editorial section.

  5. Final step

Finished a responsive botanical storefront with six fragrances, an elegant custom-scent atelier, coherent original imagery, and a complete local cart flow.
